Carousel Week 4:
For the fourth week of the carousel we were doing fashion. During this session of carousel we were creating t-shirt designs as well as creating a piece of clothing from bags and cloth for some of the fashion students to model for us.In order to design our t-shirt we used dyes on a piece of card in the way we wanted. Most people drew a rough design which they could make better when it came to creating the actual thing. Once the rough design was done we

PSYCHO SHOWER SCENE
For the past two weeks we have been recording sounds in order to recreate the audio for the shower scene in "Psycho". To do this we were given a little microphone to go around and replicate the sounds while recording them. We were given a cue sheet to get down the times of the different sounds and what sounds we actually needed to create.
What is Foley Sound?
Foley sound is the reproduction of sound to use in the post production. This is used to enhance the video instead of using the original sound recording of the video that may not sound as good. Foley sound can include anything from the sound of clothes rubbing against each other as you walk to the sounds of water dripping on the floor. If these kind of sounds the video footage can seem very unnatural and strange.
What is found content?
Found content is any content that is used in a video or piece of media that is not originally made from you but is found elsewhere for example downloading music from YouTube. As we did not get much recordings we had to resort to downloading some screaming sounds effects for when the woman gets stabbed in the back and tap water sounds for the sound of the shower.
Editing Process.
We were using Adobe premiere pro to edit. When editing the video I didn't apply many effect. The only effects I used was some distortion on the audio files in order to make them sound older so it fit with the whole black and white theme. This task was quite simple so when editing I didn't have any problems at all. All I needed to do was cut the audio files and organize them.
What needs to be added?
There is still a bit of editing left to do as the video seems very quite with not enough sound in the scene. I think I just need to add a bit more ambience sound otherwise all the other sound effect that I have added will sound too sudden and unnatural. I think I need to add some more effects to the sounds for example with the steps of the woman when she's walking up to the bath I need to add some reverb so it really sounds like its all happening in that bathroom.

Week 2 of the
carrousel (Week 3)
Document what you did in the session on Tuesday and
Wednesday
On tuesday we were split
into groups in order to do a live edit of an advert. This advert was for the
pen company "BIC".
• Research that you carry out in these sessions
For this session
we researched what we needed to do to insure we were safe on the set.
Skills that you have
tried, For this day i volunteered to be an actor in the advert. I
always had to make sure i was constantly in the right position so the
whole camera crew could get the best shot possible on me and the other actors.
For the acting i attempted
to put on a funny accent to make the advert a bit more funny as the whole
atmosphere of the advert seemed to be comical anyway.
Any processes
The process we went through for the video prodction was the whole bic advert. We had to go through various stages in order to get the end result of the bic advert.

Any tools that you used.
We used a lot of the cameras from the studio, four in total. The other room with all the monitors was used for people to check things like the sound levels and checking if the scenes were changes properly

Title
: Critically Comparing my Skills, Processes and Methods
1st. Formulate your
question:
Look below at what you
are you being asked to evaluate.
Unit 1
U1.2.1
Critically compare a range of communication methods used to convey
meaning in creative media production.
Note Critically is similar to compare but concentrate
on the things that are different with two or more methods used or what sets
them apart. Point out any differences which are particularly significant.
In
your own words say what U1.2.1 is asking you to do.
Answer:
Its asking us to critically compare a range of media.
2nd. Gather your
information:
What have you been doing
that you can evaluate
On
your blog you now have two weeks detailing classes in The Carousel and
professional ways to use tools, skills, processes. If you have details of
these you have done this point just add the links below.

3rd. Apply the information
How well have you done in
the sessions?
Ask yourself:
- Which
skills, Processes and Methods or tools you enjoyed the most?
Answer:
Out of all the things we've done so far i enjoyed using photoshop in graphics
the most. Being taught about the different short cuts available in photoshop
was a very helpful lesson.
- Which
of the things you have been shown could you demonstrate to another person?
Answer:
I could easily show my class mates how to use the short cuts i learnt on
photoshop.
- Which
of the things you have been shown do you need more practice with?
Answer:
I could have done with more practice on adobe illustrator. For example i wasn't
very good at editing the separate layers and drawing on them with the pencil
tool. When i tried doing the drawing on illustrator the pictures ended up
looking very erratic
4th. Consider the
implications
If you
were asked by a professional to use some of the tools, skills, processes how
well would you do?
Answer:
It depends on which software i was asked to use. If it were Photoshop i would
do a pretty good job depending on the task whereas if i was using illustrator i
would do terribly as i dont really know how to use the software.
5. Explore other points of
view
Have
you considered feedback from teachers and Peers as to how well you did in the
session, if so what feedback have you had?
Answer: I haven't had any feedback.
What
Feedback have you had so far that tells you you are doing okay in the session?
Answer: I haven't had any feedback from teachers about my work.

2. Write up your
experience of the following..
•
2a Discuss any
research that you carried out in these sessions: U2.1.1,
When editing a video on
"Premiere Pro" we were given a tutorial from Stefan which can be
classed as secondary research. This helped us set up the project to have the
right settings. The video contained stuff like how to configure the
resolution and refresh rate of the video to make it look better. I already had
a fair amount of knowledge about Premiere but this helped me further my
knowledge as i learnt how to view the wavelengths of each audio track which i
then used to pinpoint certain points in a song so i could sync it up
to the video i was editing.
The only primary research
that was used was asking about photoshop shortcuts in order to make the whole
editing a photo process a lot quicker. I learnt how to save by using
a shortcut which meant i could make sure by saving i wasn't going to lose
any work i had done. I also learnt about using the transform shortcut to
reshape different layers on the pictures i was working on.
Now list Primary and
Secondary sources U2.2.1
Primary:
Secondary:
2b Discuss any skills
that you have tried: U2.1.1
2c Discuss any
processes and methods you used (Photography wet process, Screen Printing,
Photoshop layering etc): U1.1.1

Methods
2d Discuss the tools
that you used (Paint, Material, Software, etc): U2 3.1
Evaluate your use of them
How effective were you with
this tool?
How could you improve your
use of the tool?
